Hey folks! I thought I’d start off with a “DAK” that happened to me the other day. A simple one but nice. I was having one of those mornings with stacks of stuff to do and a sick child to care for so I forgot to put out my bins. My lovely neighbour noticed and put them out for me then phoned to to see if I was ok. Thanks, Jeanette! You rock. Then as I was driving home that afternoon, I saw a woman cross the street without looking out for traffic. A teenage boy rushed out and yanked her back before getting hit by a car! That’s probably more a ’save a life’ act but hey, he could have kept walking…
Daily Acts of Kindness are everywhere… you just have to look and of course participate! Please, please share your experiences. I would love to read them and so would everyone else who visits this blog!
Putting together some care packages with my workmates for colleagues who are under the weather with the flu.
A friend was going to be at a 20 year reunion this weekend with us, but has been struck down with something very nasty (worse than swine flu), so those of us who are there are putting together a scrapbook for her that she can look at while she is undergoing treatment. Note to team: Drop book in big tub of dettol before giving it to her so no-one cross-contaminates!
So I don’t know if this scores high on the list of RAofK but… My brother-in-law, who is temporarily living with us, was ‘having issues’ setting up his computer. Now computers for me are easy and it’s hard for me to believe that others think it is hard. I’ve never even gone to school for computers. Every day that he’s been here, I’ve watched him curse his computer and the programs too. He never asks for help so I assume that he’s figured it out and I’m usually busy with my household tasks anyway. So today, I saw that befuddled look on his face, again, and I just went over and offered to help. I set up his camera, mic, Skype, Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook accts., the applications on Facebook and showed him how they all worked and how to set up a blog. It only took a little of my time but it made a huge difference for him. Plus I kinda enjoyed myself in the process, something I hadn’t even expected. The reason I didn’t know if this really counted at all was because it kind of benefitted me to help him. I don’t hear any more torment from that side of the house now, in fact, I hear him enjoying himself. And it was so simple.
